Static Assets
Working with the account teams, I build the asset for our clients to run as ads. The process with these typically starts with the account team and I discussing what strategic points our ad needs to hit. We pitch the idea to the client for approval and I run with it from there, building and fleshing out the idea, organizing the review process, and ensuring both our account team and the client are satisfied.
Effective Spend Blog Posts
The Effective Spend Blog is positioned as a source of expert content. So while I put out fewer posts than when I ran the SupplyHouse.com blog, the articles are typically much more heavily researched and detailed here. My goal with these posts is to build evergreen content that will pull in visitors for years to come and we have seen success on that front. Here are three posts I wrote (one I ghostwrote) that have been particularly successful.
SupplyHouse.com Fun Blog Posts
The plumbing and heating industry can often be a less than exciting one. To combat this I kept my ear to the ground and found some of the more unique stories from around the Trades to write about. These posts add variety to the often technical pieces on the blog and provided an insight into the industry for people looking to be entertained more than educated. Sometimes I was able to teach the reader something along the way, while keeping it light and fun. Here are three examples of my work, but anything by Nick B (along with some others I ghostwrote for) are articles that I put together.
SupplyHouse.com Technical Blog Posts
The primary function of the blog was to educate. These posts drew the biggest numbers to the blog through their addressing common questions and hitting big keywords. “How to Program Honeywell T4 Pro Thermostats” is on pace to be the third-best performing post, drawing over a thousand views a month and growing. While these are more technical-focused and require a more formal voice, I did try to keep them less dry of reads by inserting jokes and asides when they fit in without detracting from the goal of the post.
Video Scripts
For examples of these, check out the videos tab. I wrote scripts for a variety of videos, ranging from technical, research-based, and customer-facing product videos, to fun, creative, inside joke-heavy videos for the end of the year company party. The latter isn’t public, but I could show you my parts in person if you want.
Website Copy
This one is a bit harder to show, but good examples are every category page description. Originally I wrote small jokes and clever lines related to the products, but the website strategy pivoted toward a more direct approach so I redid them in that voice. I was able to get a few fun ones in like this one for Trane Parts where I took a spin-off their slogan.
